This book is a collection of modern American haibun written by Carol Pearce-Worthington from 2005 to 2013. The haibun form originated with master Japanese poets in the 17th and 18th century, and since then has continued to evolve throughout the world. Haibun in this book incorporate a peculiarly 21st century style of freedom into the classical discipline of tightly written prose accompanied by one or more haiku poems. Both personal and eccentric, the themes and musings here could linger with you afterward like a good friend.

Hazel was Harry's sister-in-law even though he didn't remember her. Besides, as he would have explained if anyone had asked, you can never tell what a person will do when they get lonely. So Harry agreed to let Hazel come to live with him.
