Those who have never had a dog can be forgiven for thinking that dogs can't speak, but they do. The story of 'Floss', as she might have told it, is one of endurance, love, fear and pleasure. Perhaps the author's end will be like the one that awaited her. He too has had the 'foxes' in his life ready to hurt, damage and destroy. But to rise above all the problems and show the way to others is an almost unbelievable and beautiful feat. It was a pleasure to read.
