Sean Steddy, an introverted high school student, is struggling to find the meaning in life. His parents are on the brink of divorce, and he is helping to support the household with his after-school job working at Strata call center. When the new neighbors arrive, Sean discovers their daughter, Lucille Lange, a deaf girl with an affinity for academics. The two of them become best friends, and eventually more.
