After the Civil War (1860-1865), many new areas of the country were opened up for settlement. John George Snyder and his wife, Sarah Stambaugh, were among the families that moved West, settling in Callaway County, Missouri, where they prospered. Over the passage of time, the ties to relatives back in Pennsylvania became blurred and often forgotten. Such was the case with the ancestors of John George Snyder. The only things left to work with in trying to extend the Snyder line backwards in time were John George's Bible, given to soldiers during the Civil War, and a handful of family photos....

The Barefoot-Withrow Families history and genealogy book was originally published in 1966 by Vivian and Anne Daugherty. Vivian and Anne, along with their sisters Susan, Helen, Lucille, and Antoinette, worked on the family history beginning in the mid-1950s and continued their efforts for at least a decade. They interviewed the older members of the family, tracked down 'lost' cousins and ferreted out family information from old letters, original documents and blurry copies. To validate their research, they notarized statements made by their mother and aunts and uncles. The sisters did not have...

Antoinette D. Huff wrote "The Never Failing Light" and the other five stories in the 1950s. They are based on the cherished stories of the Biblical Nativity, stories that clearly had a strong influence on their author. While they are all based on the theme of the Nativity, they are seen from different viewpoints and angles. These stories were meant as inspirational messages and could be given as lectures to a group, or simply as stories to be read by individuals. No matter how the stories were communicated, the listener or reader would go away with a renewal of their faith and ideals. It is...

In describing this brief history of the Deberry-Navarro family, Susan Daugherty Navarro wrote: "Four generations of a family with the surname Navarro have been aware that they had no relatives by the same name, but at the same time they had little knowledge of exactly how and when the name originated or was assumed. Only one man who actually took part in the name-changing incident survived until the twentieth century and he never told the story so far as the present generation can discover. What follows is a description of how part of a legend was clarified and documented. No attempt is made...

The first volume of "The Gingerich-Gingrich Families" was about Yost and his oldest son, John. This second volume attempts to document the families and extended families of Yost's remaining seven children: Anna, Mary, Jacob, Peter, Christian, Michael, and Barbara. Due to space and time considerations, the extended...
