The theme of this book is "God at work in the world" as depicted by the symbolism in the great stained glass window at the historic Central Christian Church in Lexington, KY. We are not talking about the God of history nor the God of today. We want God to be experienced as timeless in the past, present and future. God to be seen not only as revealed uniquely in Christ and in us but in everyday affairs.

What do we know about God? And love? About the laws of God for abundant living? Being happy? Living a satisfying life? What do we know about death: Jesus said to his Disciples before he faced death, "Do not be afraid...." What have we discovered about the church? Is it really, as scripture says, "the pillar and bulwark of the truth"? What have we discovered about the worship of God and prayer? Are there "more things wrought by prayer than this world dreams or, as the poet says? What have we discovered about faith? The Bible says, "This is the victory that overcomes the world - our faith." What are the elements that make for the growth of good personality? What is it that helps us be better persons? These are the questions we're asking in this series of messages. We all want to have joy and confidence. We want inner peace and personal fulfillment. The reason some of us believe we ought to follow Jesus has to do with this very fact. Jesus talked about our having his joy in all of its fullness. He spoke of our having his peace, which nothing could take from us.
