The Cookie Stand takes place during the Christmas holidays. Macy is a college student who comes home during her Christmas break bringing her discouragement with her. She has seen a lot of wild, dorm life while living on campus and is dismayed by the world outside of the Christian home where she was raised. Macy lives with her Aunt Rachel following the death of her mother several years earlier.
