That Darned Tree takes its story from the Bible, Genesis, Chapters 2 and 3. This novella is a work of fiction. In the Bible, God, Serpent, and Adam and Eve are real. In this novella, I use their names and locations in a fictitious manner. For example, within the Garden of Eden there were two specific trees: The Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. No one knows what those trees looked like. So with literary license as a creative writer those trees come alive in this story. Since God is real, I hope He does not mind me using His name in a literary sense.
