The application of RS and GIS techniques provide soil loss estimates based on different parameters. Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) model is used to determine soil loss estimation. Parameters, namely the rainfall and runoff factor (R), soil erodibility factor (K), slope length and steepness factor (LS), crop management factor (C) and conservation practice factor (P), are the mandatory inputs to the RUSLE. This experiential study was carried out on the upper part of the Subarnarekha River Basin in the South-Eastern part of the Chotanagpur Plateau, India.

Evapotranspiration (ET) is an important part in surface energy and water balance. ET is the process where liquid water is converted into water vapor and thus removed from sources such as the soil surface, wet vegetation, pavement, water bodies, etc. Transpiration consists of the vaporization of liquid water within a plant and subsequent loss of water as vapor through leaf stomata. Remote sensing based energy balance models are presently most suited Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land (SEBAL), a remote sensing based ET model, was applied to Landsat TM imagery in Bankura district, a...

This work focuses on the mapping of the urban heat island (UHI) effect with temporal and spatial variation, ETM+ (year of 2001) and TM (year of 2009) data. Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System Techniques are useful tools in Mapping Land Surface Temperature (LST) using Thermal band data. Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect can be detected from LST data. The study area is located in the Centre of the Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal. Detection of the UHI effect over 2001 to 2009 indicated that most of the areas with high UHI effect were the industrial land use regions, non-vegetated land...
