Saranon glanced up at the dragons as they flew overhead. The hour of darkness covered them as she watched on. She waited as Pennie examined the stone. It formed part of the shield locking them inside the camp. Shouts rang out on the other side. 'Is that Galven?' Pennie asked.

She nodded in reply. A twig broke on the muddy ground. 'We have company, ' she said.

A lone sorcerer. Just one, but that was enough to give them away. Pennie ran for fear of being caught, while Tasha stood gazing out into the distance, 'One day that will be us.'

The night sky whirred to life as blasts of wizardry pummelled through the air. Saranon dare not look as the dragon swerved and they made it past the first barrier. She glanced down as a blast roared up through the dark sky. Before she could attack Mitch struck out at the blast. The impact knocked the dragon off balance. She lost her grip and fell, rolling as the dragon skidded along the dusty plain. Mitch asked, 'Are you hurt?'

She glared at him as the wizards protecting the border circled in. Mark's voice rang out in the dark, 'Saranon '

Saranon clung on as Mitch commanded the dragon to turn in the night sky. He remained silent. She was about to speak as the blast of wizardry seared overhead. The display crackled through the night air. 'I thought they were expecting us, ' she snapped.

The outer shield flared as she made contact. 'Stay where you are, ' Captain Argaston shouted.

The dragon struck his claws deep into the ground. The shield lowered and let them through. Her sorcery surged from within, and she winced with the pain. There was no way to hide it as she fell to the ground.
