Mastitis, inflammation of mammary gland, is one of the most important diseases causing economic losses to dairy industry worldwide. Antibiotics are the only proven method of treatment against bovine mastitis. Presence of antibiotic residues in milk and food chain are the greatest disadvantage of use of antibiotics for the treatment of mastitis.
