Hues of colors look appealing when affixed on fabrics and is no doubt the main cause of attraction of a fabric. Earlier used natural colors though were safe, had low fastness properties and offered limited range of colors. In an attempt to improve the color range, fastness and fixture properties new synthetic nonbiodegradable dyes were swarmed into market but these dyes being toxic in nature have become a cause of concern to environmentalists. When these dyes are discharged into waste streams, they not only cause damage to the aesthetic value of waters but also impart their toxic and...

The removal of heavy metals from the wastewater is a matter of concern for many countries but is a key issue in developing countries like Pakistan. These heavy metals are of serious health and environmental concern and there is a need to discover new and effective methods for their removal from industrial effluents. Removal of Copper (Cu) and Nickel (Ni) from industrial wastewater was studied using metal oxide nanoparticles such as magnesium oxide (MgO) and zinc oxide (ZnO). The metal oxide nanoparticles provide high adsorption capacity, simple operation and rapid adsorption.

In this study the potential of household waste charcoal has been determined as low cost adsorbent for the removal of heavy metals (lead (II) and silver (I)) from the industrial effluents with a double objective of solid waste management for improved treatment of waste water. The household waste activated charcoal and zero valent iron nano-particle doped household waste activated charcoal is synthesized and checked for its removal efficacy for heavy metals lead and silver in laboratory and is characterized using FT-IR, powdered XRD and AFM analysis. The comparison of the affecting parameters...
