Burma, Afghanistan, Iran, Nepal, Sudan, Ghana... In 1977 I traveled around the world to these and twenty-five other countries. My budget was $35./day. Consequently, most of my journey was through Third World countries where a room could be had for $3.00. Along the way I was a guest of a student and his family in Iran, slept in a yurt in Afghanistan, joined Nubian camel drivers on a relic of a ship going up the Nile, crossed the Libyan desert in a sand blown train, and avoided arrest in Ghana and Nigeria.
