Effluent containing nutrients of nitrogen and phosphorus discharged at industries and Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP) are usually swept off through surface runoff into River Kisat (RK) and Nyalenda Wigwa stream (NWS) and finally into the Winam Gulf of Lake Victoria leading to eutrophication.
