"The Boy Knight" is one of G.A. Henty' s better works, and his use of primeval English is flawless, if not highly gratifying for those with wide vocabularies. The story takes place during the Third Crusade under King Richard I. It is very much historically accurate with one or two inconsequential exceptions for romantic purposes. The day to day events of the story however were obviously well researched. It is very much pro- King Richard and somewhat neutral on the subject of the Crusades themselves. However it was written for young people so it's no small wonder the saucy bits were left out....
