The room is dark. Kevin is drenched in sweat and breathing heavily. Sitting up he shakes his head to clear his mind. He goes into the bathroom to get a drink of water. There is a sharp pain in the back of his neck. Placing his hand on the back of his neck he rubs the spot that is hurting. His fingers sense wetness and he assumes his neck is still damp from the night sweat. When he withdraws his hand he casually looks at his fingers to see if it is sweat or blood. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is an 1865 novel written by English author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (1832 - 1898) under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll. It tells of a girl named Alice falling through a rabbit hole into a fantasy world populated by peculiar talking creatures. Popular with adults as well as with children, it is considered to be one of the best examples of the literary nonsense genre. This version is slightly abridged and easier to read. The illustrations by Sir John Tenniel (1820 - 1914) have been modified by Nathan R Sewell.
