In World War II our dad, Jim as he was called, commanded the submarine Grunion. Early in the war we received a Western Union telegram stating that the Grunion had not been heard from and was assumed lost. For 65 years neither the US nor the Japanese had any idea of what happened. The state of the sub has been on the books as missing cause unknown for the entire time.
