He is unselfconsciously familiar with broad aspects of Jewish literature, rituals and history which inform his felicitous imagery....Guberman writes lyrical love poems with a bittersweet Jewish taste. Unlike many American Jewish poets, his concerns extend beyond the narrowly religious, political or sentimental."
