The polder five is a designed project of the Bangladesh Water Development Board, which was constructed during the period from 1965 to 1970. The entire area of polder five is situated in Shyamnagar upazila under Satkhira district of Bangladesh. The research area is within the Burigoalini union Shyamnagar upazila, which is about 65 kilometer away from Satkhira district town.
