Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia in elderly people worldwide. The goal of the present study is to evaluate the potential role of the proteolytic enzymes, nattokinase and -chymotrypsin in management of Alzheimer's disease. The present study revealed that nattokinase and/or -chymotrypsin could modulate brain inflammatory markers, apoptic markers, promote antiapoptic marker and growth factors levels in the brain via its antiamyloidgenic activity, anti-inflammatory property and antioxidant capacity."
