Tom Mathews (aka Sparks) is homeless, living on the back streets of San Francisco. He is a non person, without money, job, decent clothes or home. Everyday is a bad day, with rarely enough food and lives in a plastic tent. He is surrounded by a variety of other homeless people, many who are ruthless and violent. Tom's enemies, in addition to natural elements is the constant threat of harassment from those in authority and violent street thugs.
