Sean Buttenberg is a young outsider in the riverine twin town of Koonarook -Caladonia in the nineteen fifties. He is nearly killed in a sudden storm and mysteriously marked by lightning (Dingarra). This leads Sean on a series of escapades involving the river land, its people, and animals. The fear, prejudice and drama are palpable as the characters, friends and foes, young and old, settlers and original inhabitants move through interwoven drama and adventure-misadventure.
