For many people the Southwest is a vast desert of unexplored land and Indian tribes. While living and working on the Navajo reservation, the author discovered the richness of the area and its people. Working as a public health/school nurse, she kept a daily journal of reservation life and weekend travels. When sending out group e-mails, the responses of family and friends confirmed her suspicion that the American traveler had only knowledge limited to Sedona, the Grand Canyon and Phoenix.
