The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Performance and Accountability Report presents the agency's program performance and financial management information during fiscal year 2008.

The purpose of this manual is to describe methods found acceptable to the staff of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission for the calculation of certain key values required in the preparation of proposed radiological effluent Technical Specifications using the Standard Technical Specifications for light-water-cooled nuclear power plants.

This report describes the facilities and systems to be used by nuclear power plant licenses to improve responses to emergency situations. The facilities include the technical support center, onside operational support center, and near site emergency operations facility, as well as a brief discussion of the emergency response function of the control room.

This report summarizes an assessment of the risks from severe accidents in five commercial nuclear power plants in the United States. These risks are measured in a number of ways, including: the estimated frequencies of core damage accidents from internally initiated accidents and externally initiated accidents for two of the plants;the performance of containment structures under severe accident loadings; the potential magnitude of radionuclide releases and offside consequences of such accidents; and the overall risk.

This document provides direction to NRC personnel for reviewing training programs at nuclear power plants to verify compliance with the requirements of 10 CFR 50.120 and 10 CFR as acceptable.

In 1987 the NRC revised the material control and accounting requirements for NRC licenses authorized to possess and use a formula quantity of strategic special nuclear material.
