Ceftriaxone is a third generation cephalosporin antibiotic with broad spectrum of activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It interferes with the peptidoglycan synthesis of bacterial cell wall, thus weakening the cell wall which cannot resist osmotic pressure and ruptures.
