This book covers current SFC instrumentation as it relates to greater robustness, better reproducibility, and increased analytical sensitivity. Originally, SFC was thought to be solely for low molecular weight, non-polar compounds. Today we know that SFC spans a very large polarity and molecular mass range. Modern SFC may be more adequately described as "Carbon Dioxide - Based HPLC" than "Supercritical Fluid Chromatography" and this shift in mindset and practice is a large reason for its resurgence.
