Contaminating concrete structures with chlorides causes severe damages to the reinforcing steel bars. The electrochemical chloride extraction (ECE) was proved during 1970s as a repair technique for extracting chlorides from reinforced concrete structures. If inadequate treatment plan is used in ECE treatment; a severe drawbacks can be faced. These drawbacks can be for instance; embrittlement of the reinforcing bars which affect the bearing capacity of structure, or prolonging the treatment which icrease the cost of the treatment.
