Volume Three continues the collection of its author's poetic writings, which are unified around the themes of cosmic consciousness and the search for meaning, but with special focus on the Quest for meaning within contemporary understandings of cosmos. Included are three long poems and a variety of shorter ones, old and recent. Four interpretive essays, notes with references, and a three-volume index are included.

In this sweeping fantasy in verse, spacefarers on patrol discover the rubble field of a fragmented planet, and on a large tumbling rock find the ruins of an ancient temple. Immediately they begin to explore, sensing mystery. From their plight, the poet builds an entertaining and often whimsical allegory that relates cosmic consciousness to structures of meaning: Soon, / we hope, the fragments regaining mass / will begin to recombine.
