Betrayal is the violation of trust that results in extreme distress far beyond the event itself. It is deliberate collusion to cause one to lose something that is most important to them.
The Piper---Satan---knows, better than most of us, which deviations he needs to fabricate to get us off course of our eternal destiny. His easiest play is to corrupt the written Word with eloquence so that it s readers can bring a curse upon themselves simply by reading or hearing it.
