This is a poetic journey. Working around and through the form of Robert Frost's poem "Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening" I began writing poems. The form was difficult and restrictive, at first, and then it became easy and liberating. Finally I felt like I had exhausted it, and I needed something more substantive. Whenever I purchase a new copy of the Book of Mormon for my own use one of the first things I do is to divide the pages up into 30 blocks by marking the top corner of each page. The first eighteen pages get number 1 and the next get number 2 and so forth. The last few pages are 30. My practice then is to read and study a block every day of the month and this completes the book every month. This is the script of a musical play written in 2000 and produced by the Carriage House Theatre Foundation in Cardston in 2001. It chronicles the story of Mormon pioneers who were called to come to Canada in 1887 and settle to find a place of security and peace under British Justice. The choice of Cardston as the initial settling place and the sense that their settlement was made possible with heaven's help and sealed with the heaven's approval by the construction of the magnificent Cardston Alberta Temple is presented.

I find that writing sonnets about scripture principles softens my heart and sharpens my mind. So I do it a lot. The revisions to the Seminary Scripture Mastery list recently have drawn my attention to these wonderful verses. So here is what resulted when I studied the 100 verses of scripture with my sonnet makers hat on. Enjoy.
