The Atlantis Trail continues on from 'Atlantis: the Andes Solution' with the author's further four expeditions to the Altiplano, visiting four volcanoes with similar features to those described by Plato, the mysterious petrified city of Pumiri on the edge of the level plain near the lake and the village of the ancient Uru/Chipaya peoples in the middle of the great salt desert. The author finally visits the location Plato gave and finds a site next to the sea previously an island with circular zones of land and sea destroyed by earthquakes and floods exactly as Plato's described Atlantis....

About 12 miles (20 km) from the shores of Lake Titicaca lie the ruins of what was once the site of the greatest city in South America. Thought by some to date back to 15,000 BC when it might have been on the shore of the lake, it is now considered by radio carbon dating to have begun around 1500 BC and flourished from around 300 to 1000 AD when it probably came to an end due to climate change - a worsening climate meant the area was no longer able to support the industrious agricultural population. One of the most fascinating aspects of the city is the famous Sun Gate, carved with icons said...

How far does the Earth travel in a 1/36,000th part of a second? It may surprise the reader that the answer is virtually 32.64 inches, what Prof Thom called "a megalithic yard." And how far does it travel in a 36,000th part of a second using a theoretical year of 360 days? Again it may surprise the reader to find that it is virtually 33 inches - a Sumerian yard of 50 shusi. Ezekiel and Revelations describe "The city of God" which measured "12,000 furlongs" - a mistranslation of "great cubits" and the city of God was Babylon where Ezekiel was held prisoner and shown the Temple of Marduk by the...

Many people believe Plato's story of Atlantis to be a 100% true account of a fabulous lost civilisation whilst others hold that it is entirely a work of pure fiction. The truth may be that just like any modern writer, Plato drew upon different sources and added a sprinkling of his own imagination, drawing it all together under the name Atlantis, but the fundamental geographic account which he claims was brought back from Egypt fits perfectly well to the continent opposite the Pillars of Hercules - later re-named America. And the detail of the vast armament with 1200 triremes, riders springing...
