Red-Spotted Ox is the autobiography of an indigenous Pokot man, Domonguria, as told to Pat Robbins in the early 1970s. Domonguria spent his life near the Kenya-Uganda border in East Africa in a world already then under rapid change. By allowing Pat Robbins to record and write up his stories, he realized he could help preserve an account of a unique Pokot way of life for future generations. As he said: -It is time for our Pokot traditions and history to be written down, so that our schoolchildren can read about their own heritage and others can understand and appreciate our culture....
