This book presents basic statistical concepts, and methods with a particular emphasis on their meaning, and practicality in real life. Many introductory statistics texts do not provide the practical motivations behind the techniques, nor the reasons why the techniques were formulated the way they are. With the specific approach used in this book, the motive behind the statistical concepts and methods being described is put forward. The main purpose of the methods will be kept before the reader, and used as often as needed to justify each step taken. A particular effort is made towards...

The primary objective of this book is to show practitioners simple step-by-step approaches for organizing rating data, creating SAS datasets, and using appropriate SAS procedures, or special SAS macro programs to compute various inter-rater reliability coefficients. The author always starts with a brief and non-mathematical description of the agreement coefficients used in this book, before showing how they are calculated with SAS. The non-mathematical description of these coefficients is done using simple numeric examples to show their functionality. The author offers practical SAS solutions...

By writing the third edition of the Handbook of Inter-Rater Reliability, my primary goal was to allow researchers and students in all fields of research to be able to access in one place, detailed, well-organized, and readable materials on inter-rater reliability assessment. Chance-corrected agreement coefficients are covered in part I of the book, while part II is devoted to agreement coefficients in the family of intraclass correlations. Part III covers several rank-based measures of association, in addition to discussing agreement within the framework of item analysis.
