Lanzelet is an enigmatic work of Arthurian literature. Written around 1184, it is the second of the German Arthurian romances. Its lost French precursor may have been part of an ‛old', scarcely accessible Arthurian tradition, so Lanzelet is considered central to the early history of the genre.
