This book examines scale interactions and energy transformations that occur during hurricane genesis. The organization of convection during hurricane genesis is first explored to establish which scales are evolving and to determine which wavenumbers constitute the hurricane scale. Next, complete energy budgets are examined in order to sort out energy flow during hurricane genesis.
