In 2004 a leadership training program was undertaken in rural schools in Lombok, Indonesia that encouraged shared leadership across school communities rather than relying on top-down authority. Its purpose was to consider the emergence of new practices when schools are given the opportunity to be involved in a systematic program across a six-month period.
