Volume II/1 presents the first half of what is accepted as the second part of Freylinghausen's Neues Geist=reiches Gesang=Buch in its first edition from 1714. The volume contains the Rubrics I to XXXVII with 434 hymn texts presented in verse form, together with 87 continuo settings, the melodies of which are reproduced in the treble clef notation common today, with the text beneath the music.

Volume II part 2 contains the second half of what is accepted as the second part of Freylinghausen s Neues Geist=reiches Gesang=Buch (New Spiritual Hymnal) in its first edition from 1714. The volume contains the Rubrics XXXVIII to LXI with 381 hymn texts presented in stanza form as well as 71 continuo settings, the melodies of which are notated in treble clef as is common today, with the text under the notes.

This textual apparatus, which accompanies the text of the Geistreiches Gesangbuch by Johann Anastasius Freylinghausen, is divided into four parts. In addition to a bibliography, an outline index, editor's notes, and commentary on titles and registers, the major portion of the book is taken up with information about the authors and sources of each of the 758 songs in the collection. The conclusion consists of an appendix of texts and notes.
