This work examines the reconstruction of cultural and historical myths by selected postcolonial writers of fiction from Indigenous Australia and South Africa. It explores summarily how these myths were used to define the colonial space, define the indigenes and how they in turn have chosen to define and represent themselves in a post-colonial world.
