Trapped on a makeshift platform, high in an ancient redwood tree, a beautiful young tree sitter named Sophie and a mysterious drifter who calls himself Mal are forced to battle the ruthless lumbermen determined to cut down the tree. An idealistic activist still only in her teens, Sophie also must cope with Mal, a seemingly wacky eccentric who claims to be more than 2,000 years old.
