On the stroke of midnight, a man is found murdered, with his wife standing over him, a gun in her hand. The woman turns to Carlton Davies, her former lover, for help in proving her innocence. Her defence is weak... she had never loved her husband, having been blackmailed into the marriage. Can Davies find the truth before it is too late? A classic whodunnit mystery with lots of twists and turns, though some of the racial terms would be deemed offensive my modern standards and must be viewed as being of their time.
