John Taylor (1808-1887) was an English religious leader who served as the third president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1880 to 1887. He is the only president of the LDS Church to have been born outside of the United States. Taylor was converted by Parley P. Pratt on a mission to Toronto in 1836 and became an Apostle two years later. He spent much of his presidency evading arrest on charges of "unlawful cohabitation" and died while still in hiding.
