Set in the 1980's, "Sunshine" is a humorous, uplifting view of life told through young narrator Ann's eyes. After Ann befriends new student Sabine in the schoolyard, the two girls become inseparable. Over the years, they help each other grow in many different ways. Sabine supports Ann through her parents' divorce, gives her the confidence to write, and pushes her to experience new things. In turn, Ann provides Sabine the encouragement she needs to break through her tough exterior. "Sunshine" is wonderful for preteens and adolescents, as well as anyone who appreciates 1980's nostalgia.
