In The Tiger of Mysore Dick Holland goes to India to help his father escape Tippoo Saib. Dick joins Lord Cornwallis's army and takes part in the battle against Tippoo. Dick then assumes a disguise, enters Seringapatam, the capital of Mysore, and rescues Tippoo's harem from a tiger. Because of his bravery he is given an official position and is able to travel the area looking for his father. A dangerous rescue is attempted and Dick succeeds in saving his father.
