One question lingers two hundred years after the Lewis and Clark Expedition returned to St. Louis in 1806. Did Lewis' dog Seaman complete the trip with them or did he perish somewhere along the way? Very few facts are known about this dog that was only mentioned twenty nine times in two years the journey took. Lewis wrote the last mention of his dog in his journal entry for July 15, 1806 while the Expedition was still 1,500 miles and two months away from home.
