Contrary to popular notion (and the city's street and welcome signs, which feature an iconic rose bloom), Roseville is not named after the flower but after Denison Rose, a hero of the War of 1812. The arrival of aerial photography came at a particularly significant moment in terms of the visual appearance of England.
