Within each of us exists this space that, if not naturally filled with good, nurturing self-acceptance, tends to fill with something else. The problem with filling it, or attempting to do so, with something external lies in the insatiable nature of the space. Some people try to fill it with drugs or alcohol, some fill it with food and others do so with romantic relationships. Then there are those who attempt to fill this space with things-retail therapy, a great sale, inheritance, valuable memorabilia-that, when taken to the extreme or done without real consciousness, makes life unmanageable....
