Whether you are continuing your journey with me via these Spirit Animal Tales or whether you missed my first volume, The Voice of Coyote, and are leaping unwarned into this spiritual realm, I welcome you. These are tales that 'I' have been blessed with, passed to me from various Spirit Animals, mainly Coyote. They are filtered through 'my' experiences; people, places, things, and incidences that brought me to where I am today. There is no conscious effort on my part to accurately recreate any person, place, thing, or incident. If anyone has a button or two pushed, that's probably meant to be....

Three coinciding incidents led directly to the publication of Flock of Dogs. I was perusing my first volume of poetry when I realized that not a one of my historical poems had been included. My Aunt Mary in California passed away on the morning after her 95 birthday. I was led on an incredible photographic journey into Mexico. Thus, with an introspective mind, through kaleidoscopic eyes, moving along my Spirit-guided path, and from the mouth of my Grandaughter Gwendolyn, comes this continuance of my life and times. May these poems jar a few memories, elicit chuckles, bring pause, and above...

This is the author's sixth book and fourth collection of short stories dealing with Raven, Coyote and Spirit animal friends. There are fewer stories and they are longer in this volume. Whereas, the earlier tales could be simplistic, fabalistic, even moralistic, these latter records seem to show more individual character, more plot. There appears to be a greater influence of the Spirits historically and personally; Spirit has pervaded the author's life, and the historical world, long before the author became aware of it. Perhaps, that was his lesson to learn.

Like four of my previous books, these are collected tales of the Spirits. These stories are shared with me by the Spirits to be, in turn, shared with any and all. Other than being short stories, they have no framework, no rack upon which to hang a hat. They are inter-dimensional, timeless, real and unreal. They cross the boundaries of myth, religion, history, and space. Some may seem simplistic, others convoluted; all are recorded as given to me. All are for the reader's entertainment. If more is gained ... and judging by many responses, this is the case ... then, I feel, that is why they...

Words the tuneless (or not so tuneless) song of a moment, the instantaneous image and emotion that slides into your soul at any given point in time has been poet Doug Hodges s path throughout his whole life. He has always had the desire to listen, observe, think, question, formulate, and finally share the conclusions his mind, heart, and soul had reached. Unbecoming Roads, Hodges s fourth collection of poems, consists largely of newer poems featuring a number of illustrations, both literary and visual, from the web of his life. It also includes excerpts from the poetry chain he created with...
