This work explores the relationship between the brain and our motivation to do things, asking questions such as, why don't we eat ourselves to death? and how do we know when we are thirsty?. It also considers the different psychosocial and psychological theories of motivation offered by psychologists, as well as theories that combine the two. Finally it looks at the nature of emotions and explanations of emotional behaviour.
