A sci-fi novella set in a dystopian future in which atheism has replaced religion as a state-sponsored institution. After the death of her husband, Alynda Moore undergoes residential counseling at an institution overseen by the Church of the Rational Atheist. While there, Alynda comes under the scrutiny of church officials who are probing the mysteries surrounding her husband's death.
