Humans have the capacity to help others and be altruistic yet also to be aggressive and unco-operative. The author considers both of these type s of behaviour and the theories psychologists use to explain them. He also looks at these behaviours in relation to everyday situations such as noise, crowding, personal space and culture. Finally, he discusses how pro-social behaviour can be encouraged and anti-social behaviour reduced.
