Egerton Young was a 19th century Canadian minister. He was a missionary to the Indians in the Northwest Territory. Other works by Young include "By canoe and dog-train," "The apostle of the north," and "Three boys in the wild north land." For 30 years Young collected the myths and legends from the Indian tribes he visited. "Nanahboozhoo, the personage who occupies the principal part in these myths, is the most widely known of all those beings of supposed miraculous birth who played such prominent parts in Indian legends.
